A request and an offer
I've an idea there is a list somewhere amongst recent postings about the characteristics of an effective, communicative, socially situated blog. But I can't find it.
Does anyone remember it?
Can you paste it into a reply to this blog or send it's URL if it is longer if you know it?
That will help me, but what can I do for you?
I've promised to post a photo of Cambridge, and there is another photo I want to post, too.
I'm going to add a photo here, not (I hope) prompted by narcissism, but to see if Blogger puts it where I want it.
Photo: Autor of message on his birthday cake..The only image that could be easily found.

Tillykke med din födselsdag, Dennis!
Did they really EAT you on this cake? And , where in the world was this colorful picture taken?
Yours, Sus in Denmark
Hi Dennis,
I read your post about effective blogging. I found Bee's message with the information
I managed to paste it here, and that it was what you were asking for:

Hi Claudia and all,
Let me contribute with some material I have found on Dave Pollard's blog -
not EFL at all...but it is always interesting to expand our circle and
blogging gives us this possibility :-)

Blog readers want to see more:
1. original research, surveys etc.
2. original, well-crafted fiction
3. great finds: resources, blogs, essays, artistic works
4. news not found anywhere else
5. category killers: aggregators that capture the best of many
blogs/feeds, so they need not be read individually
6. clever, concise political opinion (most readers prefer these
consistent with their own views)
7. benchmarks, quantitative analysis
8. personal stories, experiences, lessons learned
9. first-hand accounts
10. live reports from events
11. insight: leading-edge thinking & novel perspectives
12. short educational pieces
13. relevant "aha" graphics
14. great photos
15. useful tools and checklists
16. précis, summaries, reviews and other time-savers
17. fun stuff: quizzes, self-evaluations, other interactive content
Blog writers want to see more:
1. constructive criticism, reaction, feedbac
2. 'thank you' comments, and why readers liked their postrequests for
future posts on specific subjects
3. foundation articles: posts that writers can build on, on their own
blogs
4. reading lists/aggregations of material on specific, leading-edge
subjects that writers can use as resource material
5. wonderful examples of writing of a particular genre, that they can
learn from
6. comments that engender lively discussions
7. guidance on how to write in the strange world of weblogs
Warm regards from Brazil :-)
Bee
Warm regards,
Nahir
Sus,
Nice to meet you here. They did, indeed, eat me - though I was left to devour my head!
The colourful picture was taken in Wales, though much of the brilliance comes from my coat of many colours - bought many years ago in Cambridge, as it happens.
Nahir,
That was it! It gets more and more difficult sometimes remembering WHERE one has read something. Great that you found it for us and posted it here. I shall try to aim at some of the gaols. I might manage the personal stories plus a few OK photos.
Greetings and, once more - thanks.
Good Day i'm fresh to this, I hit upon this board I find It amply accessible and it's helped me out tons. I should be able to contribute & support others like its helped me.
Cheers, See Ya Around
